One Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla fan has managed to create an incredibly realistic take on the game’s iconic Celtic Cross shield from resin.
Ubisoft fans Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla are sure to enjoy a recent take on one of the game’s many trusted shields. This recreation is just the latest in a long line of awesome fan art for the popular action-adventure game 2020, which currently features an extended in-game Yule festival.
Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla takes players to 870s Europe and puts them in the shoes of Eivor, a proud Viking warrior with aspirations of greatness and conquest. The game follows the same formula as the others Assassin’s Creed Games: Players are unleashed in a massive open world full of activities and collectibles to explore, with a loot system similar to those found in many popular RPGs. While Valhalla had significantly fewer pieces of equipment than its predecessors Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey and Assassin’s Creed: Origins, it still contains a bunch of period-appropriate armor, weapon, and shield sets. The list of collectibles keeps growing thanks to DLCs like the recent one Dawn of Ragnarok.
A skilled Redditor and Craftsman who call themselves For Honor Props recently shared images of their real-life version of the Celtic cross shield from Valhalla. The replica is made from resin cast in a shield mold, but ForHonorProps was able to bring it to life by gilding it with gold leaf. The shield also features a handle and what appears to be a leather strap serving as a backing, further adding to its authenticity. ForHonorProps juxtaposes images of their replica with screenshots of the in-game shield, allowing viewers to see just how faithful this replica is.
As with many video game franchises, Assassin’s Creed is full of cosplay potential. The varied historical settings of the games mixed with the more recent emphasis on mythology and mysticism have made way for a wide assortment of outfits, items, and character designs unique to the game. in instantly recognizable time frames, it’s easy for fans to find props and props that represent both major and minor characters in the series.
This shield is just another example of how alluring Assassin’s Creed is up to cosplayers. The design of ForHonorProps might not offer the same protection as a real Viking shield, but the inclusion of the handle, along with the meticulous attention to detail with its various markings, makes it very authentic.
