Rome, Georgia, Jan. 28, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Today, Berry College and Hotel shares announced the opening of the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott in Rome, Georgia. The new hotel is owned and developed by Berry and is located next to Rome’s extensive tennis center at Berry College. Atlanta-based Hotel Equities manages the hotel and provided development services throughout the hotel’s construction. The hotel is expected to recover revenue otherwise lost to nearby towns due to a lack of suitable accommodations in the Rome area. In addition to providing much-needed hotel rooms for visitors, the hotel will employ students who will give them hands-on experience in hotel management.
“The hotel project is in line with the college’s objective of offering students special opportunities to combine learning and work, while creating new sources of income that contribute both to our educational mission and to the economic vitality of Rome. “said Berry President Steve Briggs. All revenue from the hotel helps fund Berry student scholarships.
The Fairfield brand was selected in part because Fairfield’s history and heritage aligns with Berry’s history and values. Artwork in the hotel’s public areas provides a unique opportunity to connect with Berry’s history through embedded QR codes. Amenities include complimentary breakfast, high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity, an upgraded fitness center, seasonal pool, and lobby bar and restaurant. A truly distinctive feature of this Fairfield is the Baseline Bar where guests are invited to relax with afternoon food and drinks while watching a tennis match or admiring the view of Lavender Mountain.
“Our Fairfield team is committed to adding value to the community by providing unparalleled hospitality to guests and residents,” said Regional Operations Manager Amanda Michael. “We couldn’t be more excited to open our doors to the public.”
Hotel Equities provided development services expertise throughout the construction of the hotel, working with architects, designers and contractors from the earliest stages of development.
“It has been a pleasure to work with Berry College and all of the project partners involved in bringing this new Fairfield to fruition,” said Patrick Trainor, Vice President of Projects and Facilities for Hotel Equities. “We were able to optimize the flow and operation of all spaces, successfully implementing cost controls and procurement expertise. I am proud to officially open the doors in a timely manner and within budget expectations. »
The Rome Tennis Center is nationally recognized as an “Outstanding Tennis Facility” by the United States Tennis Association and continues to be a huge demand driver bringing visitors to the area. The courts have seen players of all levels, from amateur league to top professional league, as the tennis center hosts state, regional, national and international events.
