A crazy comedy-mystery comes to Gloucester High School when its award-winning drama club presents “Clue: On Stage” for its fall production.

Based on the classic board game and cult 1985 film, “Clue: On Stage” will have audiences laughing as they try to figure out who, where and what murdered their host at Boddy Manor.

The production runs from Thursday, November 17 through Saturday, November 19 at the high school auditorium. Show times are at 7 p.m. with an additional Saturday matinee at 1 p.m.

Tickets are available now at a reduced price or can be purchased at the door. These are reserved seats; the drama club encourages guests to pre-purchase tickets and select a seat prior to arrival. Advance tickets are $13, $8 for seniors, students and staff at Gloucester Public Schools. Tickets can be purchased online at https://bit.ly/3VOwa2M.

Jessica Ruggles, a theater teacher at Gloucester High, noted that the students participated and helped her with the many elements of creating a high-caliber show for the community, including set design, hair and makeup, costume design, lights and sound.

“My goal as a theater teacher is to introduce my students to all aspects of the performing arts world. I want to give Gloucester students a strong practical experience before university – giving them an edge over others entering the industry,” Ruggles added.

The cast and crew are eager to bring such a well-known story to the Cape Ann community. The student actors auditioned for the play in September and have since attended extracurricular rehearsals.

In some other Gloucester High theater highlights:

  • The costumes are based on the 2022 Massachusetts Drama Festival runner-up designs by junior Malia Andrews.
  • Installation of a new public address system thanks to a grant from the Gloucester Education Foundation.
  • The students are simultaneously rehearsing Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ for the Dramafest competition in March.
  • The spring musical, “Anastasia”, will take place in April. Students will begin the audition process immediately after “Hint”.
